Runaya Metsource and ECKART have announced the launch of their joint venture manufacturing facility, Runaya Eckart Aluminium Powders Private Limited, in Jharsuguda, Odisha. The facility marks India's first plant dedicated to producing spherical gas-atomised aluminium powders for advanced industrial applications.
The state-of-the-art facility will manufacture high-purity aluminium and alloy powders using a precision gas-atomisation process under inert conditions. The resulting fine, spherical powders offer enhanced performance and can be tailored to meet specific customer requirements across sectors including aerospace, automotive, solar energy, coatings, pigments, catalysts and advanced manufacturing.
Commenting on the development, Naivedya Agarwal, Managing Director, Runaya, said the facility represents "an important step in strengthening India's capability to manufacture advanced, high-value materials domestically." He added that enabling local production of specialised aluminium powders would support more sophisticated industrial applications while advancing sustainable and circular manufacturing practices.
Until now, these specialised aluminium powders were largely imported. The new facility strengthens India's domestic manufacturing ecosystem by improving supply-chain resilience, reducing lead times and enabling access to high-quality materials for strategic industries.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the collaboration, Dr Christian Przybyla, CEO, ECKART, said the joint venture brings together "complementary strengths in technology, innovation and manufacturing excellence." He noted that India represents a key growth market for advanced materials, and that the partnership enables ECKART to serve customers locally while maintaining the highest global standards of quality and sustainability.
The joint venture combines ECKART's global expertise in aluminium powders and effect pigments with Runaya's innovation-led, circular-economy-focused manufacturing capabilities to establish a high-value, sustainable materials platform in India.
