Accepting the new responsibility, Naik said, "NSDC has developed a unique model combining skill development with strong industry partnerships. I am pleased at this opportunity to contribute towards our common vision of a high skill, high value-added economy that offers opportunity to all."

Naik has always emphasised the need for skill development. Over the last few decades, he has helped to set up multiple skill training institutes and launch similar social interventions across India. Further, his personal family charitable trust has set up the Naik Technical Training Centre in rural Gujarat which has trained over 120,000 men and women in multiple skill trades.
