The new UV LED platform delivers faster curing, lower energy use, and a safer alternative to traditional industrial curing systems.

Polymatech Electronics has taken a notable step in India's opto-semiconductor journey with the development of a high-power UV LED platform aimed at ultra-fast industrial curing applications. The technology demonstrates how UV-sensitive inks, adhesives, coatings, resins, and solder masks can be cured in a matter of seconds, while significantly improving energy efficiency and workplace safety.

The UV LED chips developed by Polymatech Electronics deliver curing intensities comparable to traditional mercury-vapor lamps, long considered the industry standard. By operating in a tightly controlled UVA wavelength range between 395 and 405 nanometres, the platform allows manufacturers to optimise curing performance for different materials, improving both throughput and process consistency.

One of the key engineering challenges in high-power UV applications is thermal stability. Polymatech Electronics has addressed this through advanced chip architecture and thermal management techniques that support continuous high-intensity operation without compromising reliability. The platform is designed for long operating life, reducing maintenance cycles and improving overall equipment uptime.

Beyond performance, the shift to LED-based curing offers clear environmental and operational advantages. Polymatech Electronics' UV LED platform eliminates the use of mercury, prevents ozone generation, and avoids harmful UVC exposure, while consuming significantly less power than conventional systems. These factors make it increasingly attractive for manufacturers under pressure to meet sustainability and regulatory requirements.

The platform is expected to find applications across electronics manufacturing, additive manufacturing, automotive coatings, industrial printing, and medical device production. As these industries demand faster cycle times and cleaner manufacturing processes, high-power UV LED technology is emerging as a critical enabler.

With pilot production already underway and commercial shipments planned for early 2026, Polymatech Electronics' development highlights the growing depth of India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. It also signals a broader move toward indigenous production of advanced optoelectronic components that can compete on a global stage.
