Honda's fourth 2-wheeler plant in India inaugurated

Strengthens its ‘Make in India’ resolve by investing in Gujarat

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has recently inaugurated its 4th plant in Vithalapur, Gujarat. Honda will manufacture 1.2 million units of only automatic scooters at this Rs1200 crore plant, where the commercial production of initial 600,000 units has started in February 2016.

The 2nd line will add another 600,000 units and will start operations in mid of 2016. As a result, Honda's total motorcycle production capacity in India will increase by 26% to 5.8 million units by 2016 end.

According to Noriaki Abe, Operating Officer, Chief Operating Officer - Asia and Oceania Regional Operations, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., "India is the fastest growing economy in the world and is one of the most important and fast growing markets for Honda. With this vision of growth, today we have achieved a new milestone for our business in India. We are inaugurating our 4th factory in Gujarat. We would expect this growth momentum to continue for Indian market as well as expect Indian operation to be export hub for ASEAN countries."
