Atsushi Yamada, Managing Director, Okuma India Pvt Ltd, on technology trends and growth of Imtex over the years.

What are the technological updates in the machine tool industry in the past few years?
As part of the machine tool manufacturing industry we have an impressive line up of accurate and rigid CNC Lathes, multitasking machines, machining centres and high precision grinding machines which use the OKUMA control (OSP CNC).

As per our knowledge and expertise we now see a trend where people prefer using a combination of machine and controller. The mechanical and electrical aspects in a machine are reduced to an extent that it is difficult to make a distinction between them.

There are four major aspects of technology that we also provide in our solutions. For our solutions we look to reduce the influence of temperature. These are machines wherein the distortion of machining dimensions from thermal deformation is effectively cancelled through correction.

Operating systems and overall operations are becoming easier and there is a strong focus on user-friendly machines. Many of the machines now have in-built anti crash systems that help to avoid collusion.

The machines have an intelligence mechanism that helps avoids mistakes and eliminate accidents. Also we have a system known as machining Navi that calculates speed and based on the desired limits it can avoid issues if it arises during operations.
