Upbeat auto sector expects larger growth in FY16

For the first time in three years, car sales grew in FY 15 to the extent of 4.99%. Industry is now looking at a double-digit growth in the current fiscal.

First time in three years, car sales grew in FY15 by 4.99 per cent to 1.87 million units

Ford India, on the other hand, sold 15,775 vehicles in combined domestic wholesales and exports in March, compared to 11,805 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. March domestic wholesales were at 5,253 vehicles against 6,356 units in the same month last year, while exports grew to 10,522 vehicles compared to 5,449 units in March 2014.

Rising with the reverberating growth, the Ford Board of Directors declared a second quarter dividend of $0.15 per share on the company's outstanding Class B and common stock. This is the same level of dividend paid in the first quarter of 2015, and is a 20 percent increase from quarterly dividends paid in 2014.

Tata Motors Group global wholesales at 83,951

The Tata Motors Group global wholesales in February 2015, including Jaguar Land Rover, stood at 83,951 numbers, grew by 5 per cent over February 2014. Cumulative wholesales for this fiscal were at 877,968 numbers, lower by 4 per cent, over last fiscal.

Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in February 2015 at 52,477 numbers grew by 3per cent compared to February 2014. Cumulative passenger vehicles wholesales for this fiscal were 538,613 numbers, a growth of 4per cent, over last fiscal. Global wholesales of Tata Motors' passenger vehicles in February 2015 were at 13,936 numbers, higher by 18 per cent, over February 2014. Cumulative wholesales for the fiscal were at 122,227 numbers, lower by 8 per cent, compared to last fiscal.

Honda sets all-time monthly production records for auto production in Asia

Production in Japan for the month of February 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the seventh consecutive months, since August 2014. Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in four months, since October 2014. This includes record high production for the month of February in Asia.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive months, since January 2015.

Honda's automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of February 2015 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fifth consecutive month. New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fifth consecutive month and sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the fourth consecutive month, since November 2014.

Total exports from Japan in February 2015 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in 16th months, since October 2013.

On the other hand, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered its highest ever monthly domestic sales of 22,696 units during March 2015 and registered a growth of over 23 per cent as compared to 18,426 units in March 2014.

Driven by strong sales momentum for its cars throughout the year, the company posted its highest ever annual domestic sales of 189,062 units during FY 2014 - 15 recording 41 per cent growth over last financial year. The company had sold 1,34,339 units during FY 2013 - 14.

HCIL exported a total volume of 691 units during March 2015. The company's annual export volume grew by 45per cent during FY 2014 - 15 with 8403 units as compared to 5798 units in the FY 2013 - 14.

With record sales of 9,777 units in a single month, the 4th generation Honda City crossed the fastest 1-lakh cumulative sales mark in just 15 months and registered 101,299 units sales since its launch in January 2014.
