Dholera is already home to India's largest semiconductor fabrication facility, a JV between the Tata Group & Taiwan's PSMC

A delegation of 20 Japanese semiconductor ecosystem support companies visited Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) this week. The group included senior representatives from Shimizu Corporation, known for its work in infrastructure and precision engineering.

The visit followed SEMICON India 2025, the event where India showcased policy support and fiscal incentives for chip manufacturing. Talks focused on combining Japan's technological expertise with India's scale and workforce, supported by Dholera's infrastructure, to establish the region as a semiconductor hub.

The delegation discussed collaboration in setting up precision facilities for Japanese SMEs supplying to Tata Semiconductor and other fabrication units, as well as developing warehouses, gas distribution systems, and clean rooms. They also explored residential and hospitality projects for expatriates, managers, and engineers. Joint skill development programmes for semiconductor manufacturing were also part of the discussions.

Ambrish Parajiya, Managing Director of GAP Group said, "The visit of the Japanese semiconductor ecosystem companies to Dholera is a vote of confidence in India's vision and Dholera's readiness. Japan brings unmatched precision and reliability, while India offers scale and a huge market."

Dholera is already home to India's largest semiconductor fabrication facility, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Taiwan's PSMC. Other developments in the Activation Zone include projects by Renew Energy, INOX Air, Polycab and a 5 GW solar park, projected to generate more than 1.5 lakh jobs by 2030.

Located 110 km from Ahmedabad along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Dholera covers 927 sq km and is connected by the under-construction Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway and an upcoming international airport scheduled to start operations by December 2025.
