At a time when sustainability is redefining manufacturing, a Hyderabad-based company is acknowledged for its contribution to circular solutions.

Innovation in recycling continues to be one of the most critical levers in driving sustainable industrial practices, especially in the plastics sector. At this year's FTCCI Excellence Awards, held in Hyderabad, Blend Colours Pvt. Ltd. was recognised in the Product Innovation—Large Companies category for its work in developing a functional additive aimed at improving plastic recyclability.

Hosted annually by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), the awards recognise businesses making significant contributions in fields such as manufacturing, innovation, services, and sustainability. This year's ceremony brought together government officials, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs to honour efforts that are quietly shaping the future of Indian industry.

The award presented to Blend Colours acknowledged the company's work in addressing one of the more persistent challenges in plastic use: how to enable better recycling without compromising material performance. Their additive, developed through in-house research, is designed to make post-consumer plastics more viable for reuse — a small but meaningful step in circular economy thinking.

While accepting the award, company representatives spoke of the need for long-term thinking in materials innovation. "It's no longer just about producing more or faster—it's about making better choices," said one of the directors. "That means asking tougher questions, being patient with research, and staying committed to finding solutions that are both scalable and responsible."

As sustainability becomes more central to business strategy, such recognition signals a shift in what is celebrated—not just growth and profit, but purpose-led innovation. It also highlights the role of mid-sized and specialist companies in quietly driving important change behind the scenes.

The jury for this year's awards included senior retired bureaucrats from the IAS and IPS, with selections made across multiple sectors and company sizes. Other awardees ranged from infrastructure developers to service-based enterprises and start-ups working in clean tech.

The win for Blend Colours comes at a time when the company, like many others in the sector, is preparing for its next phase of growth — one where technology, responsibility, and resource efficiency must go hand in hand.
