Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, celebrates the commencement of revenue service of the Indore Metro, featuring Alstom's Movia metro trains and advanced signalling solutions to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable mobility for commuters in Indore. The Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Super Priority Corridor with Alstom-built trains on 31 May, followed by the launch of revenue services on 1 June 2025.

Alstom has designed and manufactured these trains in India at its state-of-the-art facility in Savli, Gujarat. The first trainset was built in a record time of 14.5 months from the Notice to Proceed (NTP) and was delivered to Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) in August 2023. These ultra-modern, lightweight trains will operate at a top speed of 80 km/h along the 31.5 km Indore Metro line, which includes 29 stations. Each train can accommodate 50 seated and 300 standing passengers. The Indore Metro Rail Project is expected to benefit over six million residents, directly and indirectly.

In a combined order for both Indore and Bhopal metro projects, Alstom's scope includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 52 standard gauge Movia metro trainsets in a 3-car configuration, along with 15 years of comprehensive FlexCare Perform maintenance services to ensure maximum fleet availability and reliability. Alstom is also delivering the latest generation of Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system, as well as train control and telecommunication systems, each backed by seven years of comprehensive maintenance. A total of 25 trainsets will be deployed on Indore's metro line. So far, 14 trainsets have been delivered to Indore, and 8 to Bhopal.

Olivier Loison, Managing Director – Alstom India, said: "We are thrilled to see the people of Indore experience world-class rail solutions with the commencement of Indore Metro's revenue service. Alstom's signalling and rolling stock solutions, supplied for the city's first-ever metro services, will not only ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and affordable mass transport, but also contribute significantly to modernising the city's infrastructure. We look forward to continuing our contribution to the rail mobility needs of Madhya Pradesh."

Part of Alstom's market-leading Metropolis metro solutions, the Movia metros for Indore offer the latest technology, combined with proven, reliable components. The air-conditioned coaches are designed with strong eco-design principles to eliminate hazardous substances and provide a safer passenger environment. Powered by modern, energy-efficient traction systems with regenerative braking, these trains offer a sustainable alternative to conventional transport, reducing overall energy consumption. Ambient lighting and smart light solutions further enhance energy efficiency.

The trains are equipped with an advanced Train Control and Management System (TCMS) and an automatic track inspection system to ensure precise, high-speed data transmission. The highest standards of safety and security are maintained through continuous CCTV surveillance, with a direct communication channel between passengers, the operator, and the control centre. Intelligent CCTV features include unattended object detection and empty train detection for passenger counting in emergency evacuations. The trains also include dedicated wheelchair spaces for passengers with reduced mobility.
