Bhagwanth Khuba, Hon'ble Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Chemicals and Fertilisers, inaugurated the 2023 South Asia Forum for Distributed Energy (SAFDE23) in New Delhi.

"The country is on the right path to achieve its ambitious national climate target of generating 500 GW through renewable energy by 2030", noted Min. Khuba.

This year, SAFDE's theme is centered around public-private collaboration. Alongside partners such as MNRECLASPIKEA Foundation, and International Solar Alliance (ISA), GOGLA is hosting SAFDE23 to drive dialogue on unlocking the potential for Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) to improve livelihoods and enhance energy access.

"The potential for DRE is very high but there is a need to create an environment in which it thrives and enables economic development" said Ajay Mathur, Director General - ISA.

Mathur also stressed on the need to derisk financing for DRE and emphasised the adoption of innovative financing solutions such as carbon financing.

"India is at the epicenter of a growing energy market and we are glad to join GOGLA in driving dialogue for integrated energy solutions. There is a big opportunity to mainstream distributed renewable energy through policy, market, and technology integration", said Bishal Thapa, Senior Director - CLASP.

"We congratulate the Government of India for advancing electrification to all the households in India. We are thrilled to bring forth discussions at SAFDE23 that underscore the significance of innovative distributed renewable energy solutions for ensuring reliable access to electricity to all" noted Koen Peters, Executive Director - GOGLA
