The alliance aims to implement global protocols and standards for a secure, user-friendly EV charging infrastructure, benefiting both 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler users in both consumer and business sectors.

The Bharat Charge Alliance (BCA) and CHAdeMO Association have collaborated to establish a standardised charging infrastructure in India. BCA is a collaborative platform focused on creating a safer and interoperable ecosystem for the Indian Light Electric Vehicle (EV) industry.

Comprising EV manufacturers, charging station creators, component makers, energy providers, and charge point operators, BCA's goal is to establish a consistent and safe charging network across India. This initiative, led by Kapil Shelke, Founder and CEO of Tork Motors, seeks to democratise technology and ease apprehensions about EV adoption.

The alliance aims to implement global protocols and standards for a secure, user-friendly EV charging infrastructure, benefiting both 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler users in both consumer and business sectors. They advocate for minimal vehicle modifications to ensure cost-effective and flexible charging solutions.

To strengthen their mission, BCA and CHAdeMO Association have come together to promote interoperable charging infrastructure in India. Specifications will align with IS/IEC standards, adopting IS17017-25 (from IEC 61851-25) EVSE standard and IS17017-2-6 (IEC 62196-6) vehicle inlet and connector standard by the Bureau of Indian Standard. BCA aims for vehicle standards that transcend domestic and international markets.

Tomomi Hakomori, Public Affairs Director at CHAdeMO Association, expresses enthusiasm for this collaboration, anticipating a thriving e-mobility future in India. CHAdeMO Association, a global e-mobility platform, has established a DC charging standard that fosters seamless communication between EVs and chargers. The Association's members include major automotive OEMs from around the world, collectively promoting electric mobility.
