The newly granted patents span home appliances, green building materials, smart security solutions and sustainable engineering systems

Godrej Enterprises Group has been granted 16 new patents by the Indian Patent Office in FY25, bringing its total number of granted patents to 122. This achievement underlines the company's sustained investment in applied research and design-led innovation, aimed at addressing real-world challenges through practical, problem-solving solutions.

The newly granted patents span home appliances, green building materials, smart security solutions and sustainable engineering systems, all aligned with Godrej's philosophy of user-centric design that prioritises efficiency, safety and environmental sustainability. A further 52 patent applications remain under consideration, reflecting the Group's strong intrapreneurial culture.

Commenting on the milestone, Anil Verma, CEO of Godrej Enterprises Group, said: "At Godrej Enterprises Group, innovation is about more than mere differentiation. It is about remaining relevant in a dynamic, hyper-competitive world by solving problems that matter. Each patent testifies to our pioneering spirit and the creativity, skill and scientific rigour of our teams—many of whom are young engineers and designers working hard to shape the India of tomorrow. From electromechanical systems to intelligent cooking technologies, these solutions meet the needs of modern Indian consumers today and are future-forward in every way. We remain committed to enhancing our customers' lives by continuing to invest appropriately in design, development and engineering, as part of our strategy to contribute to the collective vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat'."

Among the newly granted patents is India's first leak-proof split air conditioner, developed by the Appliances business. This technology addresses the common problem of water leakage in split ACs—a key maintenance concern—while enhancing reliability, performance and resource efficiency.

Godrej's R&D strategy is rooted in strong industry-academia collaboration and open-innovation platforms, fostering an environment of experimentation and breakthrough design. Such partnerships have enabled the company to push technological boundaries while nurturing home-grown talent.

According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), India's innovation landscape is strengthening, with a 215% increase in annual patent grants and significant reductions in examination times. Godrej's focus on design-led, inclusive and sustainable growth reflects its commitment to bolstering India's intellectual-property ecosystem and developing robust in-house capabilities, delivering accessible innovations tailored to evolving needs in homes, cities and industries.
