Pashupathy Gopalan, SunEdison's President, named "Solar Power Person of the Year"

The award recognises Gopalan and SunEdison's work in setting the pace and scale of the solar industry in India over the last year

SunEdison, Inc., the world's largest renewable energy development company, today announced that Pashupathy Gopalan, SunEdison's president of Asia-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa, was awarded the Solar Power Person of the Year during the Renewable World International Convention in Delhi, India.

The award recognises Gopalan and SunEdison's work in setting the pace and scale of the solar industry in India over the last year.

"It is an incredible honor to be named the Solar Person of the Year," said Gopalan. "SunEdison is dedicated to furthering India's renewable energy program, and plans to develop more than 15 gigawatts of Solar by 2022. With hard work and dedication, I'm confident that we can achieve this goal together."

SunEdison currently operates more than 250 megawatts (MW) of installed solar capacity and has more than 1,000 MW under development in India. SunEdison's work across India includes utility-scale power plants, canal top solar systems, rooftop solar, over 2,000 agricultural solar water pumps and more than 50 rural micro-grids.

Gopalan received the award at the Renewable World 2015 convention on July 23(rd), 2015 at The Park, New Delhi, India.
