Atlas Copco has announced the launch of its Reman Equipment Programme in India—an initiative designed to restore used compressors and engines to their original performance standards. The primary aim of the programme is to extend the operational life of equipment, reduce total cost of ownership, minimise environmental impact through sustainable practices, and provide customers with reliable, high-quality refurbished equipment. The company has already delivered its first restored compressor under the initiative and is prepared to offer customised, high-quality solutions to meet future industry demands.

This programme stands out for its ability to deliver refurbished equipment that matches the performance of new units at a fraction of the cost. Customers benefit from significant cost savings, reduced downtime due to quicker turnaround times, access to upgraded technology, extended equipment lifespan, and consistently reliable performance. Key industries such as construction, mining, water well, and oil and gas are expected to benefit from this initiative, gaining access to robust and dependable compressors tailored to their operational requirements.

The remanufacturing process includes:
Assessment – Evaluating the condition of returned equipment
Disassembly – Breaking down equipment into individual components
Cleaning – Removing contaminants and residues
Inspection – Checking parts for wear and damage
Replacement – Substituting worn or damaged parts with new or refurbished ones
Reassembly – Reconstructing the equipment
Testing – Conducting performance tests to ensure quality
Painting and Finishing – Applying protective coatings and final touches

Atlas Copco provides warranties for its remanufactured equipment, covering design and production defects. The company ensures quality assurance by using genuine parts, skilled technicians, and strict adherence to ISO certifications.

Prasanna Kulkarni, General Manager, Power Technique Customer Centre, Atlas Copco (India) Pvt Ltd., stated, "The Reman Equipment Programme represents a significant step in our commitment to sustainability, performance reliability, and customer value. By using existing components and materials, we reduce manufacturing costs and promote resource conservation."

With a strong focus on carbon footprint reduction, resource efficiency, and alignment with global environmental goals, the programme supports energy efficiency, waste reduction, and material reuse. Atlas Copco anticipates continued growth in the remanufactured equipment market, driven by rising demand for sustainable and cost-effective solutions. The company plans to expand its remanufacturing capabilities and invest in advanced technologies to meet evolving customer needs.
