GAIL organises Industry Meet on Digital Transformation

GAIL (India) Limited organised an 'Industry Meet' on Digital Transformation to share knowledge and experience of peer oil and gas organisations in digitalisation.  

 

GAIL (India) Limited organised an ‘Industry Meet' on Digital Transformation in New Delhi recently. The meet was organised in order to share knowledge and experience about cutting-edge digital technologies among India's oil and gas players.
Dr Ashutosh Karnatak, Chairman & Managing Director, GAIL said "Digital Yatra 2.0 is launched. Gone are the days to walk and run. This is not even time to sprint, we have to fly. Let's all get on board on this digital journey. So, think digital and be digital."
The industry meet was organised with an aim to enrich participants with knowledge and experience of peer organisations in the digitalisation journey. This was a signification step towards building greater synergy in leveraging emerging digital technologies such as Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, Cloud, IIoT and Digital Twins for the mutual benefit of individual organisations as well as industry.
GAIL's Director (Finance) AK Tiwari said that 2020s will be the age of digitalisation, and that monetary ROI could not be the only metric to take up digital projects. The strategic and operational impact, sustainability goals, along with the promise of improving work-life balance should also be the criteria to take up the digital initiatives. He also emphasised on the need for strong cybersecurity to reap the true value of digitalisation.
On the occasion, Tiwari was conferred with Digital Ratna Award by Dr Karnatak.
A panel discussion was held having participants from Indian Oil (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Engineers India Limited (EIL) and GAIL which was moderated by an industry expert from EY. The participants talked about the role of digital in the successful implementation of projects like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, supply chain tracking, consumer analytics, customer care systems.
