PSU can now produce High Nitrogen Steel (HNS)

Claims that HNS has better ballistic performance compared to the rolled homogenous armour steel.

This steel is planned to be produced in commercial scale as part of transfer of technology from Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory

PSU Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) now has the production capacity to manufacture high-nitrogen steel (HNS) for armour applications. This steel is planned to be produced in commercial scale as part of transfer of technology from Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL). They have claimed that HNS is having better ballistic performance compared to the rolled homogenous armour steel.

The information was given by the Minister of State for Steel, Vishnu Deo Sai, in the Parliament recently.
