Continental Automotive Appoints Boris Mergell as New Head of User Experience Business Area

Mergell will focus on innovative UX solutions and join the Automotive Board.

Effective September 1st, 2023, Boris Mergell will succeed take over Philipp von Hirschheydt and take over as Head of User Experience (UX) Business Area at Continental Automotive. Philipp held the role of head of the business area from 2022 to 2023 and has continued the activities since his appointment as Automotive chairman.  

Mergell's role enables him to drive the development of forward-looking display solutions, head-up displays and so-called UX assets in the form of software functions for user experiences of the mobility of the future. Further, Mergell will become a member of the Automotive Board.

In his 20 years at Continental, Borris has held various positions in research as well as in product and material development for passenger and light and heavy truck tires. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President Research and Development at Tires, looking over Continental tire activities in this area. 

Philipp von Hirschheydt, Head, Continental Group Sector Automotive, noted, "User experience will continue to be a decisive factor in the purchase decision of a vehicle. We are already offering exciting solutions and innovations such the Pillar-to-Pillar and the hidden In2visible Display that meet market needs."
