Siemens has implemented SCADA/EMS (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/ Energy Management System) at the SLDC, which is another step in modernizing the electrical network of state of Uttar Pradesh. With this latest enhancement to the nation's grid modernization, Siemens Limited further strengthened its leadership position in Smart Grid Solutions.

As a part of the project, Siemens has established the SLDC in Lucknow and five sub-SLDCs across different towns of Uttar Pradesh for UPPTCL. The system implemented caters to monitoring of the transmission grid of Uttar Pradesh covering over 150 substations, state owned power generation plants, IPPs and caters to about 12000 MW of the energy demand.

Siemens has implemented the state-of-the-art SCADA/EMS system for control and monitoring of the Northern Regional Grid under the Unified Load Despatch Centers scheme of POWERGRID. The system is built around Siemens' innovative hardware and software solution Spectrum Power 7 Control Center Platform. This system provides tools for the advanced monitoring, security assessment and operational improvement of a very large and complex electrical transmission network. The expanse of the system covers 12 SCADA/EMS Control centers across 9 transmission utilities of India's largest Northern Regional Power Transmission Grid covering approximately 30% of the area and serving 28% of the country's population.
