Delhi Govt. encourages use of m-governance and e-governance to enhance confidence of industry, eliminate corruption and red-tapism, says Manish Sisodia

The Delhi government is working towards encouraging use of m-governance and egovernance to eliminate corruption and red-tapism from the system, stated Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, while addressing an interactive session on ‘Delhi 2020 - A Smart Place to Live, Work and Do Business' organised by FICCI.

Sisodia assured the industry that ease of doing business was one of the top priorities of the Delhi Government and soon Delhi would be one of the most progressive and modern cities of India.

He added that there was a need for single window clearance for ease of doing business and towards this end the government was making efforts to integrate all the departments via online platform.

Industry and the government needs to work in tandem, said Sisodia and invited the industry to share their vision and suggestions with the Delhi Government to resolve the basic issues of the city such as providing water supply to irregular colonies, quality education, affordable and superior health care services, housing to slum dwellers besides enhancing women security, generating employment opportunities, reducing pollution and improving transportation.

He said that the government was trying to create a unified tax structure for the northern region to facilitate business. Uniform and reasonable tax rates along with minor enforcement and trust between the government and industry could result in boosting tax collection in the capital.

He further added that in the present financial year, in the first two months of the quarter, there was an increase of almost Rs. 800 crore in tax collection.

Responding to suggestions from FICCI Ladies Organisation of creating a women industrial park and promoting women in unconventional sectors such as security guards and bus drivers, Sisodia said that these proposals were laudable and should be deliberated upon further.

While welcoming Sisodia, Dr. Jyotsna Suri, President, FICCI, said that FICCI has been closely following the initiatives of the government and was committed to fully support the Delhi Government and would like to be associated with it in the journey towards sustainable development.
