Netherlands to increase participation in Make in India

Dutch PM assures Indian PM of complete support.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who is visiting India with a large trade delegation of over 80 Dutch companies, has assured his country's support to the Make in India movement. Prime Minister Rutte expressed support for to the Make in India Mission, including in the defence sector.

PM Modi also acknowledged the Netherlands' contribution to the Indian economy through several Dutch companies that have a long presence in India. "They are as likely to be seen as Indian as Dutch. Today, the Netherlands is the fifth largest source of investments in India," PM Modi said.

"India is also the fifth largest source of investments in the Netherlands. It is a reflection of its competitive and open business environment. The Netherlands has emerged as an important platform for Indian companies in the European Union, which is one of our largest markets," he added.

PM Modi also welcomed the agreement on manufacturing of dredgers in India at the Cochin saying it will help in India's efforts to develop Indian shipyards. "Similarly, the agreement on manufacturing of Measles, and Rubella Vaccine in India, with transfer of technology, represents yet another step to develop India's manufacturing sector, and improve healthcare."

The two countries have also agreed to set up a Joint Working Group on Skill Development.
