Shree Refrigerations Limited (SRL), known for its defence and industrial cooling expertise, has joined hands with Smardt Chillers to introduce advanced cooling solutions for India's data centres. The partnership, executed through SRL's subsidiary Trezor Technologies, will deliver oil-free magnetic bearing chillers designed for mission-critical infrastructure.
For SRL, which has long been a trusted partner to India's frontline defence systems, this move marks a step into the rapidly growing commercial cooling space. The company expects the new vertical to contribute up to 15% of revenues in the coming years, creating a stronger balance between defence and commercial businesses.
Magnetic bearing chillers offer significant advantages over conventional systems. By eliminating oil, they reduce maintenance needs and cut power use by 20–50%, making them highly efficient for data centres where energy performance is critical. Smardt, with more than 10,000 installations worldwide, is regarded as a global leader in this field.
Commenting on the association, SRL's Chairman and Managing Director R.G. Shende said the partnership reflects a shared focus on efficiency and reliability: "Our association with Smardt allows us to deliver cutting-edge magnetic bearing chiller technology to Indian customers, strengthening our commitment to mission-critical cooling solutions."
Echoing this, Derek Chan, Director of Data Centers (Asia Pacific) at Smardt, said: "India is one of the fastest-growing data center markets globally, and we are delighted to work with SRL to bring our world-class technology to this market."
